The 87th District is situated in St. Louis county, with its eastern end mere miles from the city proper. The 87th includes the cities of Ladue, Frontenac, Westwood, Huntleigh, Rock Hill, and Crystal Lake Park, as well as portions of Brentwood, Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Webster Groves, Warson Woods, and Town and Country. It is bordered to the north principally by Ladue Road, and to the south by Manchester. Its eastern edge is formed by Hanley Road, Eager Road, and Brentwood Boulevard, while Ladue Pines Drive and Mason Road help to mark its western border.
A socially and economically diverse district, the 87th also contains several parks, such as Tilles Park and Memorial Park, and a number of country clubs, including the Old Warson Country Club and Westwood Country Club. Two major hospitals, St. John's Mercy and Missouri Baptist, sit at the district's western edge.
Ladue, which is situated in the 87th, makes up the largest part of the district, having itself more than 8,500 residents. In addition to being one of the wealthiest cities in Missouri, Ladue also boasts one of the best public school systems, which Mark is proud to have attended from kindergarten through his senior year of high school. Its private schools are also nationally renowned, most especially the John Burroughs School and the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS).
The city of Frontenac, meanwhile, is home both to the popular Plaza Frontenac Mall and the yearly Frontenac Festival. Rock Hill, where Mark currently resides, is a small suburban township, with its public schools served by the Webster Groves School District.
